TerraPay has struck a collaboration with Deutsche Bank designed to strengthen its global settlement infrastructure and improve the speed and reliability of cross-border payment flows.

TerraPay and Deutsche Bank collaborate
The agreement will give TerraPay access to Deutsche Bank’s correspondent banking network alongside its payments, foreign exchange and technology capabilities.
The companies say the arrangement should improve the efficiency of US dollar settlement while extending the resilience and reach of TerraPay’s international payments network.
Combining Banking Reach with Fintech Infrastructure
The partnership reflects a broader shift within cross-border payments, where fintech infrastructure providers are increasingly combining their technology and distribution capabilities with the balance sheets, regulatory expertise and correspondent networks of established global banks.
For TerraPay, the relationship provides additional banking infrastructure to support payments across its international network. Deutsche Bank, meanwhile, gains another route through which its transaction banking capabilities can support fintech-led payment flows.
“The future of cross-border payments will be built through collaboration between global financial institutions and purpose-built fintech infrastructure,” said Ambar Sur, founder and chief executive of TerraPay.
Sur said combining Deutsche Bank’s banking capabilities with TerraPay’s payment network would create opportunities to improve settlement efficiency, extend market reach and enhance the customer payment experience.
Focus on Faster and More Reliable Settlement
Deutsche Bank said the agreement also demonstrates its commitment to supporting fintech businesses in the Middle East as payment models continue to evolve.
Majed Julfar, Deutsche Bank’s chief country officer for the UAE, said combining the bank’s correspondent banking, payments and FX capabilities with TerraPay’s network would facilitate “more efficient and reliable payment flows”.
Cross-border payments have become an increasingly competitive area as banks, fintechs and payment networks seek to reduce the cost, complexity and delays traditionally associated with moving money internationally.
The TerraPay-Deutsche Bank relationship illustrates how that transformation is increasingly being pursued through partnerships rather than the wholesale replacement of existing banking infrastructure.
Both companies said the initial collaboration could also provide the foundation for further initiatives aimed at expanding global payment connectivity as customer requirements evolve.
